Growing Proteas In Tubs

We have a huge range of Proteaflora plants that grow really happily and provide flowers aplenty in containers. When the larger varieties outgrow their tubs, just repot them to a larger tub or pot. They'll reward the small extra effort with years of beautiful flowers, right where you want them.

Use a container of at least 250mm, and keep it off the ground to assist with proper drainage. Your potting mix needs to be acidic with no added fertilizer such as Debco "For acid loving plants", or "Green Wizard". Feed a slow release fertiliser described as "suitable for natives". This must be added when first planting and then annually, in late winter. Keep the water up to them. They'll appreciate a daily drink during summer.
