Putting
the pieces of the low water puzzle together
The intention of this garden is to demonstrate how design, construction and plant selection/zoning can create an interesting garden using less water. |
The design employs surfaces that allow rain to permeate into the soil rather than creating waste run-off down drains. |
The garden does not contain any lawn or water features. |
The on-site construction methods use no water, the paving manufacture process uses recycled water and they are cut with a laser rather than a water-cooled saw. The walls are dry stacked stone. |
Mulches and surfaces have moisture conserving, weed suppressing and decorative roles. |
Featuring many wonderful plants from the Proteaceae family, which have low water needs once established. The planting design emphasises year-round foliage form, texture and colour, the striking bracts and flowers are considered wonderful seasonal features. |
