The International Protea Association was the brainchild of the late Peter Mathews (founder of Proteaflora), and resulted from the realisation that there were numerous people around the world interested in Protea cultivation. The IPA’s Executive Committee is situated in South Africa, and has the support of a Board of Directors, representing Protea associations around the globe. The IPA is the instrument, which gives the Protea Industry a status that it could not have as a series of national bodies.
